Cherimoya, Custard Apple, or 釋迦

This is a fruit that Sithara and I have each eaten separately from our respective lands of ancestry (i.e. India and Taiwan in case you were unclear from our pictures), but have never eaten here in the states. Well, I changed that on my end at least. It was not as satisfying as the ones back in Taiwan in my eating experience tonight, but I was just so excited to see it in the market that I could not help but get it and try it.

The outside sort of looks like a smoother-skinned version of an artichoke and a bit smaller, but when you break into it, it has the consistency of a mushy banana and a similar taste to that.

Just wanted to share in case any of you pass by this fruit and are wondering what that strange thing is.
